The Fast Ferrite Tuner (FFT) is our proprietary technology for analog microwave phase shifters that can be operated with low loss and agility even at Megawatt power levels. They can also be switched very quickly. This is unique.
In combination with isolators, FFTs enable the realization of power variators and I/Q modulators, for example for rapid energy switching in LINAC-based X-ray sources for use in non-destructive material testing or cargo scanning. Here, pulsed microwave power in the megawatt range is switched from pulse to pulse within about 1ms.
